Pekin's B-cut Dry Ice Team Breaks Record
In 2006 Pekin’s B-cut team danced their way to the Gold in the B-Cut Olympics [see related story] which was a competition to determine which Continental Carbonic dry ice team could cut the most "B-cut" blocks of dry ice during a timed period. A B-cut is a specialty dry ice product that Continental offers and is use extensively in in-flight catering in the airline industry.
Now, three years later, in the spring of 2009, Tim Pleasant reports Pekin has done it again and broken the B-cut record! “Our B-cut crews here in Pekin have really shined”, Tim says. Previously, the B-cut record stood at 57 filled HR-11 containers or 41,000 lbs. total cut, wrapped and packaged in an eight hour shift. This record was broken by one of Continental Carbonic's B-cut teams at Pekin with 58 filled HR-11 containers at 41,882 lbs.
However, the recently-broken record was short-lived, and was replaced with a new record of 61 filled HR-11 containters at 44,480 lbs. by a second Pekin B-cut dry ice crew. Pekin’s two day B-cut total stands at an amazing 82,094 lbs. in 16 hours. Tim Pleasant, branch manager, reports with pride, “This was achieved in a safe manner maintaining excellent quality.”
Continental Carbonic salutes its many competent and dedicated plant crews delivering quality dry ice in record time.
